Kadokawa has unveiled the first promotional video for the anime adaptation of Akira Amano’s Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective manga. Together with the newly revealed ending song “Lipsync” by Hockrockb, the first trailer also confirms its premiere date on October 2, 2023.
Akira Amano began serializing the manga in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ online magazine in October 2020, and it currently has 105 chapters released. The series follows the story of Ron Kamonohashi, a private investigator with serious issues, and Totomaru Ishiki, a pure-hearted but dim police detective. Ron was once a promising detective from the illustrious Detective Training Academy Blue but has since fallen into obscurity. Totomaru, despite lacking skills suited for his role on the Metropolitan Police Department investigative team, is driven to solve murders. Together, they tackle serial murder cases, revealing that Totomaru might just be the key to Ron’s return to his calling.
As previously announced, Yohei Azakami takes the role of the unhinged detective, Ron Kamonohashi, while Junya Enoki plays Totomaru Ishiki, the hot-blooded police and later Ron’s assistant. Besides the two, the cast has Yoko Hikasa as Amamiya and Taku Yashiro as Spitz Feire.
Alongside director Shota Ibata and scriptwriter Wataru Watari, Kenji Masuda is working on the imageboard, Maho Takahashi on the art setting, Si Man Wei is the art director, and Yuki Hayashi is the color key artist. Additionally, Yasuyuki Itou will serve as the compositing director of photography, Toshihiko Kojima as editing, and Yayoi Tateishi as the sound director, with Bit Grooove Promotion handling sound production. Chieko Mizushima is the music producer, with Kadokawa undertaking the music production. Diomedéa is animating the series.
