Sonic Superstars, Sega’s latest addition to the beloved franchise, will launch on October 17 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store! The announcement came alongside a new trailer that showcases the multiplayer feature of the game.
With a combination of new thrills and classic feels, the game offers both solo and multiplayer gameplay that promises to engage both new and longtime fans of the series. Sonic Superstars reinvents the classic 2D Sonic high-speed action platforming. Rendered with fully 3D graphics, it also introduces new powers and abilities, an all-new setting, and innovative ways to play the classic game. Players can choose to play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or Amy Rose, each with unique abilities, to race against time in stopping Dr. Eggman, Fang, and a mysterious new adversary from converting the islands’ giant animals into Badniks.
Chaos Emeralds grant players unique abilities such as multiplying, swimming up waterfalls, and changing forms. Additionally, for the first time in a Sonic game, the entire campaign can be played with up to three other players, thanks to a drop-in and drop-out four-player local cooperative play.
The new trailer unveiled during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live 2023 highlighted the multiplayer mode, emphasizing the enjoyment of local co-op with up to 4 players or taking the gameplay online in the free-for-all Battle Mode.
