It has been almost three decades since the first Mega Man, also known as Rockman in Japan, came out on 17th December 1987. To celebrate the series’ birthday, Capcom is now making a new title – Mega Man 11 (ロックマン11 運命の歯車!!), for launching on PS4/Xbox One/Switch/PC in late 2018.
The news was annouced in Mega Man 30th Anniversary Live Stream. Some character designs and screenshots are already available on the game’s official site.
Besides, eight games from the series will have remakes for PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC (Steam). Their release dates are not known yet. Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will also be ported to Switch in 2018.
▍Background
The first Mega Man was launcehd on Famicon in 1987. The series has been a classic among side scrollings. The story is set in the year of 200X. In a metropolitan where androids and robots are common, Albert W. Wily attempts to reign over the universe with robots. Mega Man is originally a household robot, but Thomas Light redesigns him so that he could take Wily down.
