Atlus has been conducting an annual shrine visit since the first entry of the series was made in 1992. In February 2018, the staff visited Zoshigaya Kishimojindo in Tokyo to pray to Kishimojin, a goddess who protects deliveries and nurturing of children, for the success of their coming title, Shin Megami Tensei V (真・女神転生V).
Shin Megami Tensei V is no exception. The production process is again involved in a series of strange events, producer Kazuyuki Yamai told 4Gamer.

“Our computers got broken one after another.” These events are no stranger to Atlus. All Shin Megami Tensei games are rumoured to be associated with broken computers during productions. The producer recalled, “it occurred orderly as if ‘something’ passed through them.”

Some staff member was concerned by this unexplainable phenomenon and believed it was “time to pay tribute”.
In this shrine visit, Yamai and his team prayed that not only the staff, but also Shin Megami Tensei’s players, would stay safe and healthy.
They also had another purpose.
“Our games are dealing with gods and demons. It’s better to let them know beforehand.”
Shin Megami Tensei V is coming on Switch. The release date is not yet announced.
