It has been eight years since the second season. A Certain Magical Index (とある魔術の禁書目録) is finally coming back with season three on 5th October!
A Certain Magical Index is originally a light novel series written by Kazuma Kamachi (鎌池和馬). The story revolves around Toma Kamijo, an untalented high school student living in a city where superhuman abilities are common. His meeting with a nun called Index eventually makes his miserable life even worse – he gets caught up in the battle between science and magic. The light novel is still ongoing.
The anime is now directed by Nishikiori Hiroshi at J.C. Staff. Unfortunately, the anime’s long-term theme song singer Mami Kawada has retired and won’t be performing for the new season. Maon Kurosaki and Yuka Iguchi are singing the opening and ending respectively.
Besides the TV anime, A Certain Magical Index’s characters are also featured in Sega’s coming mobile game Dengeki Bunko: Crossing Void.
