Based on Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Aniplex’s mobile game Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story [Magia Record] (マギアレコード 魔法少女まどか☆マギカ外伝) is getting a TV anime adaption in 2019.
The announcement was made two days ago during the game’s 1st anniversary event Magia Day 2018. Not much about the anime is available at the moment, but Shaft – the animation studio which is responsible for the game’s animation – is expected to be involved in the anime production as well. The studio posted on Twitter a special illustration of Yachiyo Nanami to celebrate the announcement.
A teaser trailer is now available.

Magia Record runs parallel to the original anime’s universe and introduces new characters that have never been included in the show. Tamaki Iroha, a magic girl who goes to Kamihama Shi to look for her younger sister, finds many other magic girls in the same city. It seems like this mysterious place contains a strange power called Doppel, and they are determined to find out the truth.
