During a live stream yesterday (11th November), SEGA Games confirmed that Sakura Wars/ Shin Sakura Taisen the Animation (新サクラ大戦 the Animation) will begin airing in April 2020. A new PV is also revealed, shedding spotlight on Imperial Combat Revue’s Flower Division.
It is also announced that the Moscow Combat Revue will appear in the anime. Details will be announced in a future “Sakura Wars Imperial Theater Propaganda Department Report” live stream.
Sword Art Online: Alicization director Manabu Ono (小野學) will direct the anime and write the script together with Tatsuhiko Urahata (浦畑達彦) at Sanzigen, based on the original work of Oji Hiroi (廣井照久). The main cast is designed by BLEACH mangaka Tite Kubo (久保帯人).
The anime is based on the video game, which is scheduled to release on PS4 today (12th December) in Japan and in Spring 2020 internationally.

▍Story
The stage is set in a romanticized version of 1940s Imperial Tokyo. 10 years ago, a cataclysm resulted in the devastating loss of the Imperial Combat Revue of Tokyo, the capital’s global defense force operating out of the Imperial Theater. The theater has since fallen on hard times and risks closure. The adventure starts as the protagonist, Seijuro Kamiyama, newly joins as the captain of the Imperial Combat Revue’s all-female-member Flower Division. He must lead the struggling Imperial Combat Revue through a worldwide tournament of Combat Revues and fight the demons once again.
