Written by Shigemitsu Harada (原田重光) and illustrated by Issei Hatsuyoshi (初嘉屋一), “Cells at Work!” spinoff manga “Cells at Work! Code Black” (はたらく細胞BLACK) is confirmed to inspire an anime adaptation. It is scheduled for January 2021, together with the second season of “Cells at Work!” anime.
“Cells at Work! Code Black” set in a “black” environment of a human body suffering an unhealthy lifestyle. The manga starts serializing in Weekly Morning on 7th June 2018.

▍Story
It follows the life of a rookie Red Blood Cell and a White Blood Cell (Neutrophil) as they work in a poorly maintained, middle-aged body burdened by issues such as stress, smoking, drinking and the like, causing complications in the cells’ work and living environment.
▍Staff and Production
The anime is directed by Hideyo Yamamoto (山本秀世), alongside Hayashi Mori (森ハヤシ) as series composition and Eiji Abiko (安彦英二) as character designs. LIDEN FILMS works on the animation.
