The wraparound jacket band on Satoru Noda’s 29th Golden Kamuy manga volume released on April 19 announced that the manga is getting a live-action movie project.
The details of the live-action project, including the release schedule and cast, remain unclear, but it is definitely big news for fans, especially when the manga’s last and 314th chapter is confirmed to launch on April 28 in Young Jump. Shueisha will publish the manga’s 30th volume on June 17 and the 31st and final volume on July 19.
▍About Golden Kamuy
Written and illustrated by Satoru Noda, the Golden Kamuy manga has been serialized in Shueisha’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump since August 2014. It won the 9th Manga Taishō award in 2016. The manga has been licensed for an English-language release by Viz Media since 2016.
An anime television series adaptation produced by Geno Studio aired for two seasons from April to December 2018. A third season aired from October to December 2020. A fourth season produced by Brain’s Base is set to premiere in October 2022.
The series follows the story of Saichi Sugimoto, a veteran of the Battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War, and Asirpa, a young Ainu girl, who try to locate the Ainu gold. Their invigorating journey starts while finding the clues hidden in the tattoos of a group of convicts who escaped from Abashiri Prison.
