The live-action drama adaptation of Auri Hirao’s If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die (Oshi ga Budoukan Ittekuretara Shinu) comedy manga has revealed cast members of the idol group ChamJam. The drama will premiere on October 8 on TV Asahi.
If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die is a Japanese manga series by Auri Hirao. It has been serialized in Tokuma Shoten’s seinen manga magazine Monthly Comic Ryū since June 2015. An anime television series adaptation by Eight Bit aired from January to March 2020.
The story centers on Eripiyo, played by Sayuri Matsumura, who is an avid fan of an underground idol group ChamJam. A member named Maina is her favorite and she decides to dedicate her life to supporting this girl by spending all of her life savings. Among her fellow otaku, she’s simply called ‘legendary’ and everyone looks up to her for her passion. One day, Eripiyo says, ‘If Maina could sand one day on the Budoukan stage, I’ll die happy!’, and thus, Eripiyo sinks further into the world of an idol fan in support of her dream.
