The Shogakukan’s Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine revealed that the anime adaptation of Mitsuru Adachi’s Mix: Meisei Story classic baseball manga will be receiving a second season! Titled Mix: Meisei Story: Our Second Summer, Beyond the Sky (二度目の夏、空の向こうへ), the anime is slated to broadcast in Spring 2023. A teaser visual was also shared.
Tomohiro Kamitami will be returning to direct the anime at OML. Atsuhiro Tomioka is returning to handle the series’ scripts and Norihito Sumitomo will be returning to compose the music. Takao Maki is also returning as the character designer. All of the season 1 cast is also returning to voice the characters once more in Season 2.
Mix is a Japanese baseball-themed manga series written and illustrated by Mitsuru Adachi. It is a sequel to Touch. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’s shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Sunday since May 2012. As of July 2022, the chapters have been compiled into nineteen tankōbon volumes.
The anime’s first season aired from April 6 to September 28, 2019. It follows Souichirou and Touma Tachibana, who aim to revive of the once-strong Meisei Academy baseball team and enter the National High School Baseball Championship.
