The TV anime adaptation of Subaruichi’s manga The Legendary Hero Is Dead! has revealed its first trailer and a new key visual, along with the main character designs. More information about the cast was also revealed with the announcement. The anime premiere is scheduled for April 2023.
The announcement was revealed in a live broadcast on Pony Canyon’s official YouTube channel held on December 16.
As an addition to the main cast, Yuuichi Nakamura will play the role of Kyle Osment. In addition, Sakura Shinfuku was selected to play Millie Eunice, the younger sister of Yuna Eunice, played by Hibiku Yamamura. Sakura is the Grand Prix winner of the Kimikoe Project, a project to discover and train the next generation of voice actors, and she will be making her voice acting debut in this anime.
The key visual features Touka Scott, Yuna Eunice, Anri Haysworth, and Marguerit Farom standing with brave looks on their faces. Behind Touka, what appears to be the legendary hero Sion Blandan can also be glimpsed.
The legendary hero is dead! is a fantasy adventure that unfolds when Touka, a farm boy, kills the legendary hero Sion by dropping him into a pit that Touka himself made.

■ Touka Scott – CV: Villager: Wataru Kato / Hero: Junichi Toki
A farmer who lives in Cheza Village and Yuna’s childhood friend. He has a lewd personality and a fetish for thighs. He is so obsessed with the radish that he grows up that he takes it as a thigh and puts it into knee-high socks to fulfill his fantasies. His magic power level is no more than that of an infant, but due to his past experiences, he is skilled in tactics. His soul was transferred to the body of the hero Sion by the necromancer Anri Haynesworth.
■ Anri Haysworth – CV: Ayana Taketatsu
She is a necromancer who once ventured with the hero Sion. While he was still alive, Anri heard from Sion that he wanted someone else to take over his body when he died, so she transferred Touka’s soul into Sion’s body. Her necromancy is prohibited and the town persecutes her.
■ Yuna Eunice – CV: Hibiku Yamamura
A girl who lives in Cheza Village and Touka’s childhood friend. She has the ideal style for Touka and he often targets her by her thighs. She admires the hero Sion who saved her three years ago when she was attacked by a demon. She will go on the journey with Touka in Sion’s body. Her magic power is at the level of a child, but she knows martial arts.

A hero who saved the world three years ago by using the holy sword to seal the gates of hell. He has a friendly personality who doesn’t discriminate and is kind to everyone.
He had a large following due to his inhuman fighting ability, magical power, and charisma. He passed through the town of Cheza where he met Yuna and Touka and rescues them from the demons but then falls into a pit that Touka had dug and dies.

The third princess of the Kingdom of Farom. She was told by the king that she would marry a hero, and from her childhood, she has been given all kinds of education in academics, arts, and manners. Because of her education, she has been suffering from stress and a certain illness.

A swordsman who once ventured with Sion. The eldest son of one of the continent’s leading noble families, he is highly skilled, handsome, and charismatic. Still, he has a sense of inferiority and a distorted affection for Sion, who was chosen by the Holy Sword.

An adventurer and Yuna’s younger sister.

The story is about Touka, who is just your average (slightly perverted) farmer in the village of Cheza. While he daydreams about being a hero and getting the girl, the real hero, Sion, is out battling demons that threaten to invade the world!
But one day, Touka accidentally kills the hero…?! With the Legendary Hero dead, who’s going to save the world now?! Touka quickly buries Sion’s body to hide the evidence, but wakes up the next day to discover he is no longer in his own body…?
