Based on the fantasy manga written and illustrated by Kore Yamazaki, The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 anime has revealed its first trailer, key visual, and additional cast that will debut this season. The anime will start airing in Japan and streamed on Prime Video on April 6, 2023.
In addition to Chise and Elias, six new characters are featured in the key visual along the phrase: “Welcome to the world of sorcery that is mastered by humans from the world of magic that is out of human nature.”
The six new characters introduced are the schoolmates of the main character, Chise. Minami Tsuda will play Lucy Webster, Maki Kawase will play Philomela Sergeant, Seiichiro Yamashita will play Rian Scrimgeour, Daiki Kobayashi will play Zoe lvy, Reina Ueda will play Veronica Rickenbacker and Kotaro Nishiyama will play Isaac Farrar.
The production work will be handled by Studio Kafka for this season, the same studio in charge of the OVA The Ancient Magus’ Bride: The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm, replacing Wit Studio.

Chise’s roommate at the academy. She has a strong, unfriendly tone and keeps a certain distance from her classmates. Last surviving member of the Webster family has somehow survived the massacre that took place some time ago.
■ Philomela Sergeant – CV: Maki Kawase
A young girl from the Sergeant family, who serves the Rickenbacker family. She is a shy girl of few words and is often by the side of Veronica, the main family’s daughter.
■ Rian Scrimgeour – CV: Seiichiro Yamashita
The eldest son of the Scrimgeour family, the Guardians of the Seven Shields. He has a serious and calm personality and shows more interest in wizards than other people.
■ Zoe Ivy – CV: Daiki Kobayashi
Like Chise, he is a new student who entered the academy this year. He always wears earmuffs and has green hair. For some reason, he avoids Chise…
■ Veronica Rickenbacker – CV: Reina Ueda
Daughter of the Rickenbacker family. Coming from a good family, she is soft-spoken and smiles constantly.
■ Isaac Farrar – CV: Kotaro Nishiyama
He is a boy from a common family among magicians. He is cheerful and caring, and gets along well with Rian to the point of being able to talk lightly with him. For some reason, he always wears a hood over his head.
▍About The Ancient Magus’ Bride
Mahoutsukai no Yome, known as The Ancient Magus’ Bride in English, is a manga series written and illustrated by Kore Yamazaki, published in Comic Blade magazine from November 2013 to September 2014, later moved to Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Garden magazine. A three-part prequel anime was produced by Wit Studio, and an anime adaptation began airing on October 8, 2017. A three-part original OVA series by Studio Kafka premiered in September 2021.
Having been ostracized by both her relatives and partially by society, orphaned Japanese high school student Chise Hatori decides to sell herself at an auction in order for somebody else to take her in and have a new place to call home. At the auction in London, she is sold for five million pounds to Elias Ainsworth, a seven-foot-tall humanoid with an animal skull for a head.
The magus, who seems closer to a demon than a human, either brings her the light she desperately seeks or drowns her in ever deeper shadows in her new country, Great Britain. The series deals with a romantic slice-of-life storyline in a surreal and supernatural light.
