Classic manga and anime series Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac (聖闘士星矢) is getting a remake by Netflix soon. The new title is called Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya.
The 12-episode first series is based off chapters starting from Galaxian Wars Arc and before the end of Silver Saints Arc, focusing on how the teenage Saints protect goddess Athena and fight against gods like Poseidon and Hades.
Directed by Yoshiharu Ashino (D.Gray-man HALLOW) , the anime is currently in production at Toei Animation. Staff of the Marvel anime Avengers Assemble are responsible for the story while Terumi Nishi and Takashi Okazaki serve as the character designer and armour designer.
Written and illustrated by Masami Kurumada (車田 正美), Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac was first published on Weekly Shonen Jump in 1986 and ran for 14 years. The first TV anime series started in the same year the manga started. Multiple spin-off anime including a new TV anime series and six movies have been made ever since.
The release date is yet to be announced.
