Sega announced it will be terminating the online service for the PlayStation 4 Port of its arcade title Border Break. The arcade title was released on September 9, 2009, and the PlayStation 4 port was released on August 2, 2018, meaning its port will have been online for 5 years and 1 month when it shuts down.
While Sega announced that the game is ending service, its more apt to say it is losing certain key features, as it will be removing the following features in the following days on Japan time:
■ June 5, 15:00 – Premium Service Automatical Renewal Ends.
■ June 12, 15:00 – Frame Lot Price Revisions.
■ July 10, 15:00 – Suspending the sale of New Core Seeds.
■ August 14, 15:00 – Ranked Matches disabled.
■ September 9, 15:00 – The game’s service officially ends.
This means online matchmaking will be disabled indefinitely after September 9, but Sega is not terminating the game entirely, as players will still be able to enjoy other modes like Battle, Training, Main Scenario, Borders Scenario, and even Exhibition matches online, though players will require an active PlayStation Plus subscription.

Border Break is a third-person mecha action arcade game developed by Sega, and is one of the company’s first titles to run on its (at the time) RingEdge arcade system board, coming to Asian markets in 2009 and 2010. The game is hugely successful in Japanese arcades, being praised for its slick control scheme and engaging combat, and rich world. Capitalizing on its success, the team released a PS4 port of the title several years later to maintain its relevancy, and it was free-to-play, unlike its arcade counterpart.
Border Break is primarily a PvP title where players control various mechs and fight against each other using ranged and melee weapons, being able to take combat to the sky and on land while battling over objectives, team up with friends, and work together to ensure victory within the time limit, or simply outplay your opponents!
