Hot off their announcement earlier this year with their involvement with the Silent Hill 2 Remake as a core developer, Bloober Team and co-developer Anshar Studios revealed that their latest remake of the original Layers of Fear collection will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on June 15.
The game is also getting an official demo on Steam that introduces the new character, the Writer who enters the Lighthouse and discovers the secrets that link together the events from the previous games. The demo is available now and will be playable until May 22 at 3:00 [PT].
Taking a full remake of the previous titles first launched in 2016, Layers of Fear Remake features a full-blown reimagining of the original and its sequel, including the various DLC contents, all recreated in Unreal Engine 5. As such, Bloober Team has also shown in their different promotional materials how the game on PC will adopt modern graphical techs like HDR, volumetric lighting, and ray-tracing among many visual upgrades.
The developers followed up the release date drop with an infographic detailing the official PC requirements for the game, listing down minimum/recommended specs to run the game, alongside requirements for running the game with Ray Tracing.

The original Layers of Fear launched back on February 16, 2016, with horror enthusiasts praising the game’s presentation of a psychological thriller in the trappings of a Victorian Mansion, starring a demented painter at his mental limit.
Taking the role of three different protagonists (The Painter, The Actor, and The Writer), players will experience a story that explores the human psyche that is interwoven to create a truly immersive experience and gripping storyline.
The new remake compiles the entire story of Layers of Fear in a complete package, that includes the original Layers of Fear, Layers of Fear 2, various DLC contents, and a never-before-told extra chapter that “will provide a new perspective on the storyline”.
