The anime film adaptation of Satoru Yamaguchi and Nami Hidaka’s popular light novel series, My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, is officially set to premiere in theaters in Japan on December 8. The announcement was made on the official movie website, alongside the release of a teaser trailer.
The film, directed by Keisuke Inoue, features an original story penned by the author, Satoru Yamaguchi. The existing staff members from the TV series, including writers Megumi Shimizu and Megumu Sasano, and character designer Miwa Oshima, will return for the film. The animation production is also handled by the animation studio Silver Link.
A mysterious new character appears in the trailer, hinting at a big challenge for protagonist Katarina Claes. The film will follow Katarina as she encounters fresh acquaintances and events, constantly evading her “doom flags”.
The original cast from the TV series will reprise their roles, including Maaya Uchida as Katarina Claes, Shōta Aoi as Geordo Stuart, Tetsuya Kakihara plays Keith Claes, Tatsuhisa Suzuki plays Alan Stuart, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka plays Nicol Ascart, Miho Okasaki plays Mary Hunt, Inori Minase plays Sophia Ascart, and Saori Hayami plays Maria Campbell. Saori Hayami as Maria Campbell, and the rest of the cast for the TV series.
Commenting on the film’s production, Director Keisuke Inoue expressed excitement about bringing the franchise to the big screen and hopes that fans will enjoy it. Screenwriter Megumi Shimizu promised a romantic and enjoyable story filled with Katarina’s charm. Character designer Miwa Oshima expressed joy about Katarina’s screen debut and assured fans that all characters, including the new ones, will shine in the film.
Advance movie tickets will go on sale starting June 30, with bonus items including a special clear file that changes the image when the paper is inserted. Limited edition movie tickets with postcards will also be available for purchase at the Ichijinsha booth during the “Comic Market 102” event at Tokyo Big Sight on August 12 and 13.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! follows Catarina Claes, the young daughter of a noble family. One day she bumps her head and regains memories of her past life as an otaku. It is then that she realizes she has been reborn into the world of the otome game Fortune Lover, reincarnated as the game’s villainess who, regardless of what route the player took in the original game, is doomed to be either killed or exiled.
In order to avoid these routes that lead to doom, Catarina begins taking countermeasures to try and avoid things going the same way as the game. This, however, ends up having unexpected consequences on her relations with the other characters of the game’s world.
