Johren announced that it is shutting down both the English and Chinese servers of Touken Ranbu Online on both the Johren website and the mobile versions of the game on August 21. The game will have been online worldwide for 2 years and 4 months when it shuts down.
The announcement wasn’t made over the game’s Twitter, but rather in its in-game notices which Twitter account directed its players to the chagrin of some of its players. The announcement stated that as of now the game will be playable but there will be no more updates to the game’s content, meaning there won’t be any kind of celebration or extra event for the next 2 months.
The game has since suspended the sale of Koshu Gold in its mobile versions unused Koshu Gold cannot be issued as refunds either as Johren credit or cash. The game will continue to be distributed in Japan.
