At today’s Anime Expo 2023 Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- world premiere event, it was announced that the Fate/strange Fake light novel series will be adapted into a television anime series. Alongside the announcement, a US-only teaser visual was also unveiled on the official Twitter account.
Written by Ryōgo Narita and illustrated by Morii Shizuki, Fate/strange Fake narrates a deceptive Holy Grail War that takes place in Snowfield, US. After the end of the third Grail War, an organization from the United States that has magi separate from the London-based Mage Association as members took data from Fuyuki’s Grail War and planned their own ritual.
Seventy years later, they used the city of Snowfield as the Sacred Land for their own Grail War. They were unable to successfully copy every aspect of the ritual, which led to it acting only as an imitation that lost the Saber class and allowed for the summoning of strange Servants due to the definition of a “hero” being blurred.
The Japanese teaser visual for the anime has also been revealed, alongside the release of a short promotional video which features new scenes from the series.
The decision to produce the TV anime series was announced during the world premiere of Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- at the Anime Expo 2023, held in Los Angeles, US on July 1. The Japanese teaser visual and PV were unveiled following the TV airing of the special.
The main staff for the anime Fate/strange Fake has been confirmed, the series will be directed by Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume. Daisuke Daito will be in charge of the series composition while Yūkei Yamada handles character design. Hiroyuki Sawano will compose the music, and the production will be handled by animation studio A-1 Pictures.
On the other hand, the prologue episode of Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- special anime is scheduled to air on July 2. Following the airing, a limited edition soundtrack EP, featuring music compiled by Hiroyuki Sawano, will be available for sale.
The Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- Original Soundtrack EP, featuring Hiroyuki Sawano, will include tracks “STRANGEFAKE,” “gilGAMEsh,” “THE COIL,” and “BITE DOWN.” The EP’s digital release is scheduled for July 3 at 0:00 [JST].
