Arc System Works and French-Bread officially announced Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes which is slated for release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in early 2024. The sequel to the fighting game series will feature a rollback netcode for smoother online play and will be available in multiple languages, including English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes is the final chapter in the “Hollow Night” storyline, which began over a decade ago with the release of the original series. As a light novel-style action fighting game, this latest sequel aims to bring a refreshing and original addition to the series. The plot centers around the protagonist Hyde, a high school student whose EXS powers are awakened after an encounter with a mysterious girl, Linne. Following their grueling struggle to defeat Paradox, the strongest user, they face a new formidable enemy, Kuon the Aeon.

The game includes a diverse roster of 21 returning characters, with new In-Births joining the fight, all accompanied by compelling background music and stunning visual environments.
The sequel will feature an expanded moveset, new character abilities, finely tuned balances, and the implementation of Rollback Netcode. Even novice players will find the game accessible, with the EXS button enabling them to perform stylish moves easily. In addition, the enhanced network features will allow players to test their skills against global online opponents in smooth-rank matches and player matches.
The plot centers around Hyde, a typical high school student whose life is radically altered when he encounters Linne, a mysterious girl whose presence triggers the awakening of his inner EXS powers.
Teaming up, Hyde and Linne embark on an intense struggle against a fearsome and so-called strongest user of all, Paradox. Their combined efforts initially lead to victory against him. However, their triumph is short-lived as they confront a new, enigmatic force named Kuon the Aeon. This ominous entity overpowers Hyde and Linne, heralding his advent with a chilling proclamation of the world’s end.
Following these events, Linne mysteriously disappears, compelling Hyde to embark on a solo journey. With a renewed sense of determination fuelled by the desire to save their world from the looming threat of Kuon, Hyde ventures alone into the Night.
