It was announced that the two-episode anime special The Quintessential Quintuplets∽ is scheduled to air on September 2 and 9. Before its TV broadcast, the special had an advanced screening across 108 theaters in Japan, commencing July 14, which garnered the attention of over 360,000 attendees.
Based on the manga by Negi Haruba, serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine from August 2017 to its conclusion in February 2020, the story centers around Fūtarō Uesugi, a part-time tutor tasked with guiding five almost failing and study-averse quintuplet beauties to their high school graduation.
As their last summer break of high school looms, Uesugi announced his intention to take a break from his tutoring job to focus on his college entrance exams, a decision that leaves the quintuplets disappointed. The upcoming anime special delves into this summer hiatus, promising fans a continuation of this charming quintuplet love comedy saga, featuring stories that did not appear in previous adaptations.
In addition, attendees of the Comic Market 102, slated for August 11 and 12 at the Tokyo Big Sight, can look forward to exclusive merchandise featuring the quintuplets in swimsuits. Booth visitors will also receive specially designed fans at 1:00 pm.[JST] each day.
A Blu-ray and DVD, which includes footage from the “The Quintessential Quintuplets SPECIAL EVENT 2023 in Yokohama Arena” featuring voice actors Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Kana Hanazawa, Ayana Taketatsu, Miku Itō, Ayane Sakura, and Inori Minase, is set to release on November 1. Reserving the product at select stores by September 3 will earn fans an exclusive postcard as a pre-order bonus.
