XD Games’ tactical fantasy RPG Sword of Convallaria: For This World of Peace is officially scheduled for release for PC via Steam, iOS, and Android devices in Fall 2023. The release date was confirmed with a new trailer offering a glimpse into the nation of Iria, along with a look at the game’s characters and turn-based combat system.
Pre-registrations for mobile versions are now available via the official Site, App Store, and Google Play Store, while PC players can keep up to date by adding the game to the Steam wishlist. Console versions are also planned, including a PlayStation and Nintendo Switch version, with no release date at the moment. More details about the game, including a gameplay deep dive, are expected to be revealed soon.
Set in the ancient continent of Rodinia, Sword of Convallaria features a blend of beautiful pixel graphics, deep fantasy settings, and tense turn-based battles, giving players a choice-based narrative-driven experience that lets them decide the fate of the characters.
Sword of Convallaria recently caught the eye of JRPG legend Yasumi Matsuno, who admired its direction and production reminded of renowned classics like Final Fantasy Tactics and Ogre Tactics. And in a collaborated interview with Matsuno and the game’s developer, Lei Guo, Lei revealed his passion for the genre and affinity for retro-style pixel art.
The game is said to include 300 maps and 1,000 stages, complete with various endings based on player choices. Guo also shared that his inspiration for the game transcends mere gaming influences, drawing on significant historical events. The title “Sword of Convallaria” was carefully selected, symbolizing not only the beauty and transience of peace but also the weapons wielded to protect it.

Set on the ancient continent of Rodinia, players find themselves in Iria, a land abundant in magical Luxite minerals. The journey begins in a dungeon, from where players escape to Convallaria, a town threatened by escalating conflicts in Iria. As the leader of the Sword of Convallaria Mercenary Group, the player must navigate various factions and make challenging decisions to pursue peace for Iria.
The gameplay is characterized by tense turn-based battles and offers console-quality graphics, whether played on the go or from a desktop. Players can customize their mercenary group by recruiting companions, teaching skills, forging equipment, researching technology, and accepting missions from different factions. The strategic deployment of powerful allies and terrain elements in combat can provide advantages over enemies.
