Mortal Kombat 1 Unveils Sindel, General Shao, Motaro, and Shujinko

Ed Boon made the trip all the way to Gamescom 2023 in Cologne Germany, to reveal a new trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, this time revealing the return of 4 more classic characters!

This time the trailer reveals the return of Sindel, Motaro, Shujinko, and the new incarnation of Shao, more commonly known as Shao Kahn, though he has yet to take on the mantle of Kahn in this world. The new trailer shows off plenty of gameplay with Sindel and General Shao and Raiden, as well as the new Kameo assists from Motaro and Shujinko, who first debuted way back in Mortal Kombat: Deception nearly 20 years ago in 2004.

Mortal Kombat 1 arrives for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and Xbox Series X|S on September 19, and on September 14 for those who buy the Kollector’s edition or Premium edition.

The game features a refined combat system with faster movement akin to some of the older Mortal Kombat games, and the Kameo system letting players bring two characters into any fight, mixing and matching their assist attacks with their on-point character’s arsenal of moves, special abilities, X-ray attacks and more.

According to the developers, Mortal Kombat 1 will offer a wide variety of modes, including NetherRealm’s genre-defining Story Mode. In addition to the single-player mode, Mortal Kombat 1 also supports various online and offline modes and aims to add cross-play and cross-progression post-launch.

Mortal Kombat 1 Pre-Order Bonus & Editions

The game’s Standard Edition is priced at USD$$69.99, while the Premium Edition is priced at USD$109.99, and Kollector’s Edition is priced at USD$249.99.

Premium and Kollector’s Editions include the Kombat Pack, early access to the game, and a considerable amount of Dragon Krystals, the game’s in-game currency. The Kollector’s Edition also comes with a 16.5-inch Liu Kang sculpture, an exclusive Liu Kang in-game character skin, and more exclusive content.

Those who pre-order all the above editions will receive exclusive access to the character Shang Tsung. And those who pre-order on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S will also have access to the beta held sometime in August 2023.
