Announced last year by Pokémon GO’s maker Niantic, the J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter-inspired mobile AR title Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is confirmed for release in the latter half of 2018.
The date was mentioned in Niantic CEO John Hanke’s interview with The Financial Times. He also said that the game will be similar to another of their title, Ingress. Their experiences in running Pokemon GO will help them deal with “public locations, government policy, regulations and public reaction to people being out in the real world”.
Not much detail has been revealed so far apart from a brief introduction available on the official site:
“Harry Potter: Wizards Unite uses state-of-the-art augmented reality technology to reveal the magic all around us. Explore real-world neighbourhoods and cities to discover mysterious artifacts, learn to cast spells, and encounter legendary beasts and iconic characters along the way!”
