The editor said the new work would start serialisation in Weekly Shonen Jump soon. More details will be revealed later.
In fact, the author first announced the mysterious new manga in Jump Festa 2018 back in December 2017. He teased fans with few drafts that showed male characters with katana and a cat-like creature. According to his public letter, the manga is not related to the Naruto universe.
Masashi Kishimoto serialised Naruto between 1999 and 2014. After that he started another manga series about Naruto’s son, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, which he currently supervises but leaves the writing to Ukyo Kodachi and the illustration to Mikio Ikemoto.
