SEGA revealed a playable demo of Atlus’ global hit Persona 5 The Royal (ペルソナ5 ザ・ロイヤル) at TGS 2019. Follow QooApp to have a sneak peak at this popular RPG, which is slated to release on 31st October in Japan and worldwide in spring of 2020.
The SEGA booth caught much attention with a gigantic Arsène (アルセーヌ) hanging from the ceiling. Also, if you are lucky enough, you may be able to meet the adorable Morgana and new character Kasumi in person!
▍First-hand Experience of the Playable Demo @ TGS 2019
The playable demo offered a new “Challenge Battle Mode” for players to try on. Players could gain challenge points by attacking the enemies. Those who reached the target score in specific turns, as well as defeating the enemies, would clear the stage.
Players would battling against a group of three enemies and each had different weakness. The turn-based battle systems sounds easy, but strategies were required if you want to obtain higher points. Players would have to unleash skills that targeted the enemies’ weakness, as well as to consider the right timing of unleashing complementary skills, such as enhancing attack power and replenishing character’s stamina.
The demo offers hard and normal mode for players to try on, while four characters: Joker, Morgana, Anne and Yusuke, are available in the battle mode.
Each character had already equipped with certain Persona skills, showcasing one of the additional features of Persona 5 The Royal: it allows players to equip different accessories to change the Persona skills.
In the demo, Yusuke was equipped with Nuclear Heat Skills (核熱), which allowed him to land critical strikes on enemies. In order to get more points, you could arrange more turns to him by using the Baton Pass system.
As the playable demo only showcased the “Challenge Battle Mode”, new elements such as additional characters and new scenario were not shown. However, you can already experience the visuals difference compared to the previous game of the series, as well as the improved fluidity of the entire game. The new “Accessory” feature also injects new elements to battles.
