I spent 129 USD in just five minutes right after the exhibition started. C3 is hell, but also a heaven.
Originated from C3 Tokyo, C3 Hong Kong is a anime and manga exhibition in which publishers, retailers and productions houses showcase and sell their best products. Some are C3 exclusive, some are cheaper only in C3, some are sold early in C3…C3 has a thousand of reasons to drive fans crazy.
I am one of them.
Japanese figure producer Good Smile Company is the bomb. The second the exhibition started, most visitors immediately ran to its booth to queue for exclusive figures like this Saber from Fate Grand Order.
Look at this crowd…it will take at least two hours to get to counter and order the figures I want. However, everything exclusive, which means they are limited in quantity, will be gone by then.
Another booth for throwing my money away is Elite Toys. Although they do not have exclusive and limited edition figures, they do offer a wide range of choice. Neon Genesis Evangelion, Attack on Titan, Fate Stay Night, Hatsune Miku…you name it. Not only are the figures here authentic, they are also of reasonable prices.
I also got a Levi figure here.
For more specific figures from some specific anime/manga series, Bandai Namco should be the ultimate booth for it. Bandai Namco showcases figures of LoveLive!, Dragonball Z and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Sadly, they are only previews of the products sold later this year.
These are some really high-quality Zakus.
Beside figures, general merchandises and books are also a big hit in C3. Kadokawa Hong Kong sells light novels, manga, art books and merchandises of about 10 popular series, which is the reason why one of the staff said it took visitors around two hours to get inside the booth!
Below are some of the series Kadokawa includes this time.
Everyone’s favourite mobile game, Chain Chronicle, also sells merchandises here. The singer of the Chain Chronicle’s anime theme song, Nano, will also be here to sign CDs (those sold at the booth) and perform.
Too bad all merchandises are pretty expensive. An acrylic charm costs around 6 USD! Therefore my shopping spree should really stop here, otherwise I will end up like a madao (a Gintama reference, sorry not sorry).
