▍About “Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san”
“Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san” started publishing in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine in December 2016. Shogakukan has compiled the individual chapters into thirteen tankōbon volumes as of March 2020. The manga won the 65th Shougakukan Award in 2019 for the Shounen Manga category.
The story is set in the winding streets of Kyoto’s geisha district, where a 16 year old girl named Kiyo lives there. After failing to become a Maiko, an apprentice traditional Japanese performer, Kiyo works as the caterer for her troupe. This is the story of her daily life.
