Spike Chunsoft’s upcoming video game “Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World: The Prophecy of the Throne” streams the game’s 1st trailer, which reveals a new original character, Melty. The game is set to release in Japan and the west this winter on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
▍Original Character
The game’s original character is created by Shinichirou Otsuka (大塚真一郎), the illustrator of the “Re:ZERO” light novel series.
■ Melty
Melty is a nun of the Dragon Church (神龍教会), a church that worships dragons. She is the sixth candidate of the next ruler of the Kingdom of Lugunica. She is a polite and gentle girl. When you meet her, you can’t help but want to protect her. She goes all out for everything, but she is so clumsy that she always makes a mess.
▍Overview
The game will follow the “Royal Selection” storyline of the TV anime’s first season and feature original “what if” story supervised by the novel’s writer Tappei Nagatsuki (長月達平). Original novel illustrator Shinichirou Otsuka (大塚 真一郎) is handling the game’s character illustrations.
The new title will be a tactical adventure game, while players can also utilize Subaru’s ability of “Return by Death,” which enables him to reverse time by dying.
Physical copies of the game’s Day One Edition comes with four exclusive pins featuring Emilia, Subaru, Rem, and the original character, Melty. The Collector’s Edition will include the pins, a SteelBook case, a soundtrack CD, and an art book with concept art, sketches, and commentary.
▍Story
One month after Subaru’s new life in another world began, an emissary sent by the royal castle suddenly appears with news that the royal selection has been postponed, but offers no reason as to why. The postponement of this grand event that decides the next ruler of the Kingdom of Lugunica stirs Subaru and his friends into action. They return to the royal capital only to find that a sixth candidate has claimed their stake for the throne. But the Dragon Stone prophesizes that only five candidates would be chosen. With one candidate being an imposter, suspicions are immediately cast toward one woman in particular: Emilia. What answers lie beyond the mysterious web of assassinations, betrayal, and conspiracies…?
