Aniplex today (5th November) unveils the production of an original anime film “Hula Fulla Dance” (フラ・フラダンス) that will open in Japan in early summer 2021.
The film’s story centers on Hiwa Natsunagi, a novice at hula dancing who nevertheless takes a job as a hula dancer at the real life Spa Resort Hawaiians hotel. The film shows the relationships between her and her colleagues. Haruka Fukuhara plays the protagonist Hiwa. She also stars in the teaser video.
It is directed by “ Gundam Build Divers” director Shinya Watada and animated by Bandai Namco Pictures. Seiji Mizushima is credited as supervising director. “Violet Evergarden” series composition writer Reiko Yoshida is penning the script.

▍“Zutto Ōen Project 2011 + 10…” Initiaive
The anime film, which is set in Fukushima prefecture, joins “Bakuten!!” and “Misaki no Mayoiga” as part of an initiative to promote Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima, respectively. The “Zutto Ōen Project 2011 + 10…” is in remembrance of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami 10 years ago.
