Instead of announcing Mario Kart 9, Nintendo confirmed that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is getting new paid DLC throughout 2022 and 2023. Six waves of the DLC will be released, with two new cups with 4 new remastered courses each being added in each wave. In total, there are 48 new courses coming to the game.
Wave 1 is set to release on March 18, 2022, and will include classic courses such as Coconut Mall from Mario Kart Wii and Choco Mountain from Mario Kart 64.

Yeah, you heard that right! Nintendo Switch owners who have the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass can obtain the DLC for absolutely no additional cost! Those who do not own it can purchase the DLC separately for USD 24,99.
The Expansion Pass costs USD 44,99 for an individual plan, but you can also sign up for a yearly family plan of USD 75,99, with up to 6 Nintendo Switches in one family group, with all the same benefits.
