Sega released new information on Sonic Frontiers, giving us a first look at the Cyber Space areas of the game, a look at the Titan boss, features, enemies, story, and more! The brand new open-zone platforming Sonic title brings high-speed movement and combats the series is known for, in a never-before-seen setting for the series!
Sonic Frontiers is slated for release this Holiday 2022 on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

▍Sonic Frontiers – Environments
■ Starfall Islands
Sonic first explores the Kronos Islands, a region where its unique terrain and climate are prone to constant rainfall, and the appearance of huge waterfalls, lush forests, and mountains. Its most notable feature however is the floating towers suspended into the air and ruins hinting at an ancient civilization, the Koco.
■ Cyber Space
The mysterious Cyberspace which players can visit by going to several portals found across Starfall Islands. Players can solve intricate puzzles and speed challenges to earn Portal Gears to access Cybers Space. Cyber Space features the traditional speed-running sections from classic 3D sonic titles, and contains Vault Keys needed to progress further into the game.

■ Open-zone Platforming
Sonic Frontier’s biggest feature is the game’s introduction of Open-zone platforming. Players will be able to find various sections of the islands where platforming skill is a core gameplay mechanic. Grind rails, perform jumps, and run at super-fast speeds to get around various areas and puzzles in your own play style.
■ Game World
Sonic Frontiers expands what fans know and love about traditional Sonic games, combining both linear-level gameplay and open-zone platforming into a new, action-filled Sonic adventure. The world map is bigger than ever before, giving Sonic more room to run and explore his surroundings, enabling him to evolve the land around him as he ventures deeper into the mysteries of Starfall Islands.
■ Battle System
Sonic’s combat style is more exhilarating and fluid than ever before. Sonic can now chain together various combos, and perform dodges, parries, and counters to more effectively dismantle his enemies. You can unlock more moves in the game, and if you prefer a more relaxed combat experience, the game offers an Auto Mode which causes attack combos to be executed automatically with a single button.
Sonic’s new Cyloop ability lets him create a trail of light that follows his tracks, by creating a ring around enemies and closing it, you can use it to damage enemies, send them into the air for combos, and solve various puzzles around Starfall Islands.
Various puzzles are available throughout Starfall Islands, keep a close eye out on anything that seems out of the ordinary, as these will reward Sonic with new powers, items, and shortcuts to explore the map even quicker!
■ Gameplay Styles
Choose between Action, and High-Speed Style movement to control Sonic your way! Action style aids in platforming by steering Sonic to platforms and is a great option for new players, while the High-Speed Style allows you to move more freely, and quickly, perfect for series veterans!
▍Sonic Frontiers – Characters & Enemies
■ Sonic The Hedgehog
The Blue Blur, Speed Demon, or the Fastest Thing Alive, it’s Sonic the Hedgehog! Sonic’s adventure begins on the Starfall Islands in pursuit of the Chaos Emeralds and his lost friends. He is also guided by a strange voice along the way.
A mysterious girl appears across the Starfall Islands. Throughout the story, she cautions Sonic to leave the Starfall Islands despite his mission to find and save his friends. What could the girl actually want, and what is her role in Sonic Frontiers?
This basic enemy spawns in groups and attacks in jabbing motions with both hands.
A floating enemy that attacks by creating electric tornadoes!
A wheel-like enemy that rushes towards Sonic once he is detected and attacks at high speeds if provoked.
An enemy protected by a hard shell that attacks at a distance with a boomerang-type move. Sonic’s attacks cannot penetrate the hard shell, but other methods such as Cyloop can catch this enemy off-guard.
An enemy formed by a group of spheres that attacks Sonic with electricity, destroying each sphere will weaken it!
A powerful enemy with fast attacks, and a fighting style similar to its namesake. This enemy can block and deflect attacks using shadows of itself, so stay on your toes!
An enemy composed of various stacked parts. Its weakness is at the top of its head, so Sonic will need to figure out how to destroy each stack to get to it!
A towering enemy with giant parts that try to crush Sonic. Use the gaps in its attack to climb to the top of its head, and destroy it!
▍About Sonic Frontiers
Sonic Frontiers begins when Sonic and his friends head to the Starfall Islands in search of the Chaos Emeralds. As they approach the islands, sudden trouble hits their plane, and they are sucked into a dimensional portal. Sonic finds himself separated from his friends, in a digital realm known as Cyber Space. With a bit of luck, he manages to escape Cyber Space and arrives on Kronos Island, one of the many Starfall Islands, full of ancient ruins where strange enemies roam. It is then up to Sonic to explore the Starfall Islands, find his lost friends, and uncover the mysteries around him.
