Team Ninja, developers of Nioh and the Ninja Gaiden series, revealed the first gameplay trailer for Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, the upcoming action game based on ancient China.
Wo Long looks to be the next in a line of challenging games developed by Team Ninja, following the success of Nioh 2. The title was announced earlier at Microsoft and Bethesda’s Game Fest showcase, taking place in the war-torn setting of the three kingdoms period, and showcasing a man looking like General Lu Bu.
Wo Long Fallen Dynasty is set to release in early 2023, on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC.

Wo Long takes place in an alternate reality version of ancient China during the three kingdoms period. The world of the three kingdoms is populated by monsters and demons from Chinese myth. The game also borrows heavily from Luo Guanzhong’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel.

Wo Long Fallen Dynasty appears to play like a mix between Team ninja’s Nioh 2, with heavy use of acrobatics and an emphasis on parrying similar to Sekiro, and Ninja Gaiden. Control a character with powerful abilities, and flashy movement as you dextrously take down your foes, with every hit from the enemy sending you on the brink of death. Swift reflexes and understanding of your enemies will be integral to your survival.
