A collaboration anime film based on Monkey Punch’s Lupin the Third and Tsukasa Hojo’s Cat’s Eye manga has been announced! Titled Lupin III vs. Cat’s Eye, the anime film will debut in 2023 worldwide on Amazon Prime Video. A teaser visual and the first promotional video are also revealed alongside the announcement.
The anime project is developed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Lupin the Third anime series, as well as the 40th anniversary of the original Cat’s Eye manga. Set in the 1980s when Cat’s Eye takes place, the retro and stylish crime story of the phantom thieives unfolds. Lupin III vs. Cat’s Eye will be the first original Japanese anime film created by Amazon Prime Video.
The anime film is directed by Kobun Shizuno (The Journey, the GODZILLA anime trilogy) and Hiroyuki Seshita (Ajin: Demi-Human, the GODZILLA anime trilogy). The animation will be produced by TMS Entertainment. Kanichi Kurita and Keiko Toda will reprise their roles as Lupin III and Hitomi Kisugi, respectively.
