Konami recently held its Silent Hill Transmission broadcast, announcing five new Silent Hill projects, including a new game titled Silent Hill f.
This new Silent Hill title will be taking place in 1960s Japan, its teaser trailer shows off a beautifully horrific world with a high-schooler roaming the streets of Japan, infected with something and holding a weapon, with the trailer ending in a traditional rendition of the Silent Hill theme.
The game’s story is being written by Ryūkishi07, who you may know for being the original writer behind Higurashi When They Cry and Umineko When They Cry as well as a number of other visual novels! The game is being developed in Taiwan by Neobards entertainment, an indie game studio with a track record of work including Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes.
Along with Silent Hill f, Konami’s Silent Hill Transmission Livestream also announced a remake of the 2001 Silent Hill 2 survival horror game and a new game titled Silent Hill: Townfall, as well as a new Return to Silent Hill movie.
▍About Silent Hill f
Silent Hill f is a departure from the series tradition, taking place this time in rural Japan in the 1960s.
The game seems to feature a high school girl as the protagonist wielding a weapon, walking along the dilapidated and abandoned streets, with what seems like a flesh-eating growth of the Red Spider Lily flowers chasing after her. The flower seems to penetrate deep into a person, creating holes inside them as the flowers feed off its host and bloom, turning its host into nothing more than a puddle of flesh.
Ryūkishi07 is writing the story, creator of one of the most infamous visual novels, Higurashi When They Cry which also took place in rural Japan. We don’t know how much influence he will take from his past works, but since the Silent Hill series is known not only for its visceral horror but psychological horror, we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us.
