Developer and publisher Square Enix released a brand-new trailer for the upcoming Octopath Traveler II game, which will be coming to PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC on February 24, 2023. The trailer focuses on two stories in particular: The Merchant Partitio and the Scholar Osvald, two of the eight total stories players can play in the game.
Octopath Traveler II is the new standalone sequel to the original Octopath Traveler. This new title features a brand new standalone story, set in a different era and a brand new land, making it perfect for newcomers, too. It’s also a standalone title so you don’t have to play the previous entry to enjoy it! The sequel will also count with brand-new mechanics and an improved HD-2D art style.

The Wildlands region, with a wilderness as far as the eye can see. Our story stars Partitio, a 24-year-old merchant. As a pioneer, he has experienced the various ups and downs of life.
He is not confined to this town, but have your eyes set on a much bigger future. “I’m going out there. I’m going to save the poor people of the world!” he proudly proclaims, and thus his journey begins with the scent of a new business…

During the daytime, Partitio is capable of buying items at a lower price than the list price, selling them at a higher price, lowering the cost of techniques that use the money during battles, or making other more profitable transactions. At night, however, he can Hire certain townspeople to lend a hand in battle.

This is a technique that can be used when the bottom strength gauge has been saved. It can accumulate BP to the maximum at once, and can greatly overturn the war situation.
▍The Scholar Osvald (CV: Jôji Nakata)
Winterland is a region closed off from the rest of the world by deep snow. Our story begins with Osvald V. Steen, a 38-year-old scholar, who is imprisoned on a prison island for the murder of his wife and child. 1879 days in a small, cold prison cell. Angrily, he mutters: “Harvey…you took everything from me. I shall kill you…without fail.” And so, with the fire of vengeance in your heart, his journey begins…

During the daytime, Oswald is capable of extracting information from townspeople. Each attempt has a certain percentage of work. If you fail too many times, the relationship with the town deteriorates and field commands become unavailable. Raising his will increase success.
At night, however, you can forcibly steal items from the townspeople by engaging in a battle.

As you progress through the story, you will obtain your own ship. Explore the world by sailing freely, not only between continents but also to surrounding islands and uncharted areas at sea! But be wary of monsters that might try to sink it…
■ Introducing…Cross Story!
In the previous Octopath Traveler, each character route was isolated, and they never met. But now in this sequel, there is a “cross story” in which the main characters act together to progress the story, with brand new tales.
