The official YouTube channel of Toho started streaming the very first “super teaser” of the third live-action movie adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara’s Kingdom manga. The trailer reveals that its official title is Kingdom: Flames of Destiny (キングダム 運命の炎) and that it will be opening in Japanese theaters on July 28, 2023.
Shinsuke Satō will return once again as the film’s director. The manga’s author Hara and the movie screenplay Tsutomu Kuroiwa will also be returning as scriptwriters. The film covers the manga’s Zi Xia arc and the Battle of Bayou. Specifically, the first time Xin and Wang Qi stood on the battlefield together, to fend off the invasion by the mighty Zhao from the north.
The original manga series centers around the slave boy Xin and his dream of becoming a great general for the state of Qin. Xin helps Ying Zheng, the young Qin king who shares his desire to unify China, rise to power within the state. Xin does all he can to become a superior commander of an army capable of defeating the Seven Warring States.
