Touken Ranbu (刀剣乱舞) has finally revealed the new sword hinted last week! Just as many fans expected, it is indeed Koryu Kagemitsu (小竜景光), a tachi with almost a thousand years of history.
DMM’s popular web game and mobile game released a teaser picture on its Twitter last week, showing the character’s blond hair and dragon tattoo.
The full picture is released today (7th August). Voiced by Shinnosuke Tachibana (立花慎之介), Koryu Kagemitsu is a character who travels endlessly to look for his real master.
“I am Koryu Kagemitsu. A traveler who is looking for his master…You are my master now?”

Koryu kagemitsu’s dragon tattoo matches the facade of the real sword. As a 100.7 cm tachi made in The Kamakura period (1185-1333) and by Bizen Osafune Kagemitsu, it was first owned by Kusunoki Masashige. Later on it fell into the hand of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu. Tokyo National Museum is now in possession of the sword.
The available date of Koryu kagemitsu is yet to be announced.
