CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 released a new trailer for its upcoming paid DLC Expansion story, Phantom Liberty, and its release date for September 26, 2023.
Described as a ‘spy-thriller’, protagonist V is sent on a seemingly impossible espionage mission channeling their inner Solid Snake after pledging their allegiance to the New United States of America, for reasons currently unknown. In this new plotline, players will meet and work with the character; FIA sleeper agent Solomon Reed, played by Idris Elba.
Characters like Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand are still returning in this DLC, suggesting that this doesn’t take place after the events of the mainline game, but rather as a side-story event and detour from V’s journey to find a way to rid themselves of the biochip in their brain.
Phantom Liberty not only brings a new story, missions, characters, skills, weapons, and tech but also a totally new area to Night City, called the Pacifica Combat Zone.
The DLC will only release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC for US$29,99, meaning players of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will not be able to acquire this DLC.
