At yesterday’s official live stream program, Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis/ PSO2 New Genesis has revealed an array of game updates, new features, collaborations, and high-difficulty quests that are heading to the game in August.
Among the key highlights was the reveal of a collaboration event with the popular anime series Oshi no Ko for September, as well as a collaboration with Uncle from Another World next month, together with the addition of the high-difficulty quest Sign of the Planet Breaker.
▍Scratch Ticket and Main Story Update
The PSO2 New Genesis live stream program unveiled details about the Remix Line July 2023 and Rewind Collection July 2023, two Scratch Ticket releases scheduled for July 26. These tickets offer variations of outfits previously released in NGS, shoes, and accessories, including rappy-themed items. Additionally, players will be awarded a C Hall Finale S capsule upon fulfilling the Scratch Count Bonus.
For fans of PSO2 New Genesis’ main storyline, Chapter 6 Part 2 will be available on August 2. In this update, Crawford announces Madden’s return, and a flurry of new episodes will be launched, exploring the reactions of each character to their experiences from the battle with Lucille.
The upcoming Standing Quest: Leciel Exploration, is designed for up to eight players. Set on the floating island of Leciel, players must gather as many ability buffs as possible to conquer the formidable boss enemy, Ruinus, waiting at the quest’s end. With the map randomly generated and the enemies possessing various powerful abilities, teamwork and strategy become crucial for victory.
Along this quest is the launch of the Nine Star Rarity weapon series, Verschmelz, and the Eight Star Rarity unit, Octo Armor. A new item, Growthment, drops during the quest and can be exchanged for these new gear items. Additionally, the weapon camo Verschmelz Almadi can be acquired by completing the quest or defeating the final boss.
▍Gameplay Enhancements and Updates
In a push to enhance the gameplay of PSO2 New Genesis, weapon camo has been added as obtainable items in specific training. Some of these camouflages will be based on weapons from Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Online 2. Each Trainia will have unique weapon camo drops, incentivizing players to reattempt even those they’ve previously completed.
Additionally, preset skills can now be enhanced in the same way as weapons are converted into multi-weapons. Multiple copies of the same unit can be combined to elevate the level of preset skills.
There’s also an introduction of a new reward item, the SG Legacy Coordination Badge. This badge can be redeemed for an item of choice from the selection of past SG scratch tickets. Two types of badges have been created: hair bands, which can be exchanged for a hairstyle, and pose badges, which can be exchanged for an emote or a motion change.
Coming soon to the PSO2 New Genesis main menu is the ability to change the status backdrop via vital gauge design. A selection of backdrop variations will be made available via tickets, with some options accessible without them.
Other upcoming features include the ability to display damage per second (DPS), support NPCs in battles, teleportation from the world map to cocoons and towers, and updates to the quest counter and title sections in the main menu for easier access and tracking.
Improvements are also coming to the salon, including the ability to edit faces, hairstyles, and head parts under the option Edit Head. Furthermore, there will be an option to show or hide values related to body shape under Salon Settings in Edit Miscellaneous.
New backdrops will be added to ARKS IDs, with some available through earning title points. For PC users, there will be an option to display other players at high resolution.
There are also new features for decorating fields and recruiting alliance members, as well as an attack power buff when using weapons equipped on your main class during Arks Records.
The new AC Scratch Ticket Designer Dreams August 2023, is a part of the ongoing celebration of the PSO2 10th Anniversary Item Design Contest. Bringing a variety of clothing and accessories to the game, these AC Scratch Tickets will be available with the update. In addition, the Scratch Count Bonus unveils an alternative version of the Motion Dash Penguin emote.
Starting August 9, players of PSO2 New Genesis will be able to undertake the standing quest, Sign of the Planet Breaker, a high-difficulty mission facing off against the new Dark Falls class enemy, Dark Falls Solas. The mission is considered a failure if participants are incapacitated five times or if the battle goes over the time limit.
A new event scratch ticket, Treasure Scratch, primarily provides augment capsules and enhancement materials. Luxury items, such as the SG Legacy Coordination Badge Pose, will be included in the scratch count bonus. These tickets can be earned through Urgent Quest rewards and limited-time daily tasks.
Lastly, in Mission Pass NGS Season 23, new accessories will be introduced, such as the Minster Foam, based on a unit released in PSO2, and the Flight State, based on a controller. Also, starting from Season 23, rewards will no longer be chosen from tiers. Instead, all items will be available, with the ability to claim rewards upon completion of all tiers.
