The anime film adaptation of Kou Yoneda’s (ヨネダコウ) best-selling manga Twittering Birds Never Fly (囀る鳥は羽ばたかない) is confirmed. The film, which is titled as Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai – The Clouds Gather (囀る鳥は羽ばたかない The clouds gather), will be on Japan’s theatres this Winter.
The film will be produced by GRIZZLY and directed by Kaori Makita, who has directed several episodes of Yuri!!! on Ice amd Banana Fish, while Hiroshi Seko, writer of Mob Psycho 100 II and Ajin, is penning the script. Music will be composed by piano trio band H ZETTRIO.

The BL best-selling manga follows the story of masochist mob boss Yashiro and his deeply devoted bodyguard Doumeki. As Yashiro develops a growing interest on Doumeki, he finds that his subordinates intentionally not to engage physically with other people. At the same time, the members of Yashiro’s mob are scrambling to assert power in the syndicate and Yashiro becomes the prime target. The balance of the relationship between Doumeki and Yashiro starts to crumble as Yashiro’s life is put on the line.
The series has been running in Hertz and ihr HertZmagazines, and it has already inspired drama CDs with Tarusuke Shingaki (新垣 樽助,)and Wataru Hatano (羽多野 渉) as Yashiro and Dohmeki. The sixth volume of the manga is slated to publish on May 1. The manga series also won the Sugoi Japan Award 2016, making it the first Boys’ Love manga to receive the award.
