Square Enix classic action RPG “NieR” announced a new smartphone title “NieR Re[in]carnation” during a live stream on 29th March to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the series. Though details of the smartphone game are not yet announced, a teaser video is streamed to portray the ambience of the project. The game will be developed by “BLADE XLORD” developer Applibot with characters designed by CyDesignation.
During the live stream, the game and “NieR” series producer Yosuke Saito (齊藤陽介) explained that “At first glance, it doesn’t look like a smartphone title. That’s how much heart we’re putting into making this game. Almost as if we want it to be multiplatform.”
His partner, director Yoko Taro (コオタロウ) added that “While this is often just used as a slogan, it really is quite new and puzzling. It’s a strangely startling type of game.”
The smartphone RPG will be free-of-change with in-game purchases. The release date is not yet confirmed.
▍Video Game “Nier Replicant“
The full name of the game is “Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139…”, and a teaser video has also been revealed for the project. It is being developed by Toylogic, in cooperation with Square Enix and “Nier” series developer Platinum Games.
The game will feature new content, fully voiced lines, new music from the original composer, and the possibility of a new ending. Square Enix, however, did not reveal a specific release date for the upgraded game.
