D-techno’s upcoming smartphone game “Higurashi When They Cry Mei” (ひぐらしのなく頃に 命) today (14th August) reveals the first PV and information about the characters.
The smartphone game project is created based on the franchise’s new anime television series, which is set to premiere this October. Developed by Smile Ax, the game is supervised by the visual novel series creator 07th Expansion and features a completely original story by Ichi Kanōki (叶希一). Ayane (彩音) performs the game’s theme song “Frustration” (フラストレーショ).
▍ Characters
■ Kazuho Kimiyoshi (公由一穂) – CV: Mayu Sagara (相良茉優)
Kazuho is the daughter of the head of Hinamizawa Village. She lost her family in the Hinamizawa Disaster and now lives in a domortry under the support of her distant relatives. She has a habit of keep apologising.
■ Miyuki Akasaka(赤坂美雪) – CV: Miyuki Sawashiro (沢城 みゆき)
Miyuki is the daughter of Mamoru Akasaka, a police officer. Like her father, she is good at observing others with the power of reasoning. She has a bright personality and get along well with others.
■ Nao Ōtoritani (鳳谷菜央)– CV: Rie Takahashi (高橋李依)
Nao comes from Tokyo and visits Hinamizawa Village for a specific reason. She trusts her own instincts and will not back down once she thinks that she is right about something.
▍Story
In 1983, the volcanic poisonous gas incident costed the lives of 1,200 residents in Hinamizawa.
Kazuho Kimiyoshi (公由一穂) revisits her homeland after losing her family in the Hinamizawa Disaster 10 years ago. But what stands in front of her are monsters that no one has ever seen.
Kazuho desperately runs away. When death drives her into despair, a mysterious girl Tamurahime no Mikoto (田村媛命), who calls herself God appears. She gives Kazuho power to fight the monster known as “Tsukuyami” (ツクヤミ) and leads Kazuho to an old shrine.
As Kazuho enters the shrine that oddly gives her a familiar ambience, she finds herself back to the peaceful days in Hinamizawa…
