Square Enix today (18th September) announces that its upcoming smartphone game “Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent” (OCTOPATH TRAVELER 大陸の覇者) will release on 28th October 2020. A new trailer is streamed for the announcement.
The official site also updated an Instruction Manual and Traveller List for players to learn more about the world of “Octopath Traveler: Champion of the Continent.”

The game is set several years before the journey of the eight heroes (i.e this is a prequel).
Orsterra, a land dominated by those with Wealth, Power and Glory. Their greed and desire have plunged the world into a bottomless pit of darkness. But within this darkness, there are those who stand to fight against it.
You are a “chosen of the ring” (指輪に選ばれし者), travel the world and find those who stand against the darkness. Journey on and forge the legend of the champion of the land.
▍Game System
The game continues the series’ traditional JRPG gameplay. Similar to the original game, this prequel will feature a pixel art graphic style with 3DCG effects. Players can explore the “HD-2D” rendered world of Octopath Traveler before the events of the original game.
▍Pre-registration Rewards
Pre-registration now reaches 500,000. A new 600,000 pre-registration goal is revealed while players will have the opportunity to take home JPY$30,000 Amazon Gift Code and the “Octopath Traveler” Switch game as presents. Players can pre-register the game via Twitter, LINE, and email.
