Square Enix today (28th October) officially launches the RPG “Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent” (OCTOPATH TRAVELER 大陸の覇者) for iOS and Android devices.
“Octopath Traveler – Champion of the Continent” is a mobile game based on the video game “Octopath Traveler,” which was released in 2018 on Switch and then ported to PC the next year.

▍World Setting
The game is set several years before the journey of the eight heroes (i.e this is a prequel).
Orsterra, a land dominated by those with Wealth, Power and Fame. Their greed and desire have plunged the world into a bottomless pit of darkness. But within this darkness, there are those who stand to fight against it.
You are “the chosen one of the ring”, travel the world and find those who stand against the darkness. Journey on and forge the legend of the champion of the land.
▍Game System
The smartphone game continues the series’ traditional JRPG gameplay. Similar to the original game, this prequel will feature a pixel art graphic style with 3DCG effects. Players can explore the “HD-2D” rendered world and choose one of the three routes, Wealth, Power and Fame, to start the game.
Players have to build a team of eight in the turn-based battles. The position and job of the characters will decide their roles. You can also build the team and equip weapons/skills according to the weakness of the enemies. Dealing enough damage to the enemy will break its shield as well as gaining a bonus for your attack.
Increasing player’s rank can obtain JP, which can be used to learn character’s skills. A maximum of three skills can be equipped to each character. The skills that you choose may largely affect the battle results.
