The compilation film project Re:cycle of the Penguindrum started streaming the official trailer that unveils new scenes and a new character. The anime film’s part 1 will open in Japan’s theatres on April 29, 2022
It was also announced that Etsuko Yakushimaru Metro Orchestra is performing the theme song for part 2, titled “My Proof of Existence” (僕の存在証明). The song is created based on the theme songs of Penguindrum anime series. The anime film part 2 will debut in 2022.
Re:cycle of the Penguindrum is a two-part compilation film project to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the original anime directed by Kunihiko Ikuhara. The project is set to re-edit all 24 episodes of the original anime while adding in some new scenes as well.
Sumire Uesaka joins the cast as the new penguin Princhupenguin, which was showcased in the trailer, together with Momoka Oginome in the costume of the Princess of the Crystal, and the young versions of Kanba and Shoma.
▍Re:cycle of the Penguindrum Story
The psychological drama story begins when a girl named Himari Takakura passes away after going out on a trip with her brothers Kanba and Shōma. A spirit in a penguin hat appears and miraculously saves her. However, in exchange for saving Himari’s life, the brothers must search for the Penguindrum for the spirit. A trio of strange penguins accompany the siblings on their quest.
