▍Koumajou Remilia Scarlet Symphony Story
In the land of Gensokyo, a realm sealed from the human world and inhabited by Yokai, the sky becomes covered in a red mist, blocking out the sun in the middle of the summer. This becomes known as the Scarlet Mist Incident.
Determined to find the root cause, and to put a stop to it before it seeps into the human world, Reimu Hakurei follows the origin of the Scarlet mist, to the Scarlet Devil Mansion to put a stop to it once and for all.
▍Koumajou Remilia Scarlet Symphony Gameplay
Koumajou Remilia Scarlet Symphony plays very similarly to the classic Castlevania franchise, particularly the “Metroidvania” style of games popularized by Symphony of the Night and the Metroid series.
Players will explore the entirety of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, coming across several enemies, using her Purification Wand and Ofuda to attack enemies while platforming and gliding across stages. You can even use Marisa and Cirno as companions, calling them out to attack enemies with their unique abilities at the cost of souls.
And of course, it wouldn’t quite be a Touhou Game without a mix of bullet hell, as you’ll encounter the other Yokai from Touhou and have to dodge, and weave through their attacks that cover the entire screen in projectiles!
▍Koumajou Remilia Scarlet Symphony Bonus Features
Added to this re-release are new features not included in the original, including a tutorial for the game’s controls, a collection of the game’s art and soundtrack, a full Japanese dub by professional voice actors, and in-game challenges!
