The final chapter of Ryza’s story, Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End and the Secret Key had a demo for attendees at TGS 2022 at Koei Tecmo’s booth. This special edition of the game’s demo gave players a chance to explore one of the unknown islands, with combat, crafting, and exploration available.
▍Atelier Ryza 3’s TGS Demo Content
The stage shown off in the demo was located in an archipelago with tall hills and low waters with plenty of stuff in the surrounding areas. Once Ryza and her friends arrive, she’s given a quick combat tutorial from an encounter with a Puni.
Switching gears from the previous two entries, Atelier Ryza 3 opts to place a cooldown on certain attacks, making the game move faster as you can now execute attacks as soon as they are off cooldown rather than building up a gauge.
Once you’ve completed the tutorial, you are given free rein to explore the map, collect materials, perform alchemy, or find more enemies to fight.
The Ryza series always featured “adventure” as one of its core pillars, and this game’s no different. This time you can travel from the land, sky, and underwater seamlessly, with these new traversal methods opening up the map in new ways with enemies and resources being accessible. A new zipline mechanic that was featured in the trailer was also in this demo, letting you zip across the map quickly.
After the basic tutorial, you can visit a clocktower that introduces the new key system. The key system allows Ryza to create well, keys that can be used to offer buffs during battle or open certain pathways in the world, giving them utility both in exploration and combat.
▍Material Collection and Alchemy
The alchemy system returns in Atelier Ryza 3, remaining mostly the same as fans remember it, with multiple tools you can use to collect materials around the world. Make sure you keep an eye out on what you can collect in the world, and prepare the necessary tools!
▍Battles and Bos Brunnen!
If you’ve kept up with the game’s news so far, you’ll probably have figured out that Bos Brunnen is in the game and joining Ryza’s party! This was certainly a surprise for us when we found out about it before the trailers came out at TGS, and with the official info being that the game will launch with 11 party members, it seems you’ll have plenty of ways to build your party, and strategize around tough enemies.
