Netflix announced that the Capcom-developed action-adventure game Onimusha, is getting an anime series, with famed director Takashi Miike (live-action Ichi the Killer, Blade of the Immortal) as the Chief Director, Shinya Sugai as the Director, and Toshihiro Mifune being the live actor model for Musashi Miyamoto. Sublimation is handling the animation.
Onimusha is a series of video games developed and published by Capcom. It makes use of the historic figures that shaped Japan’s history, retelling their stories with supernatural elements. Most of the games are of the action-adventure genre, a combination of third-person hack-and-slash combat and puzzle elements.
The anime is currently under production and the release date is yet to be announced. Several screenshots of the anime series are also revealed.

In Onimusha, the player protagonist wields the power of the Oni, enabling them to fight the Genma, the main enemy in the series. As of December 31, 2019, the series has sold a total of 8.5 million units worldwide, making it Capcom’s ninth best-selling franchise, behind Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Mega Man, Devil May Cry, Dead Rising, Marvel vs. Capcom, and Ace Attorney.
A high-definition remaster of the first game, Onimusha: Warlords was released in January 2019 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. You can even get it on PC via Steam at a discounted price until September 28!
