Shueisha announced that Yoshihiro Togashi’s critically acclaimed Hunter x Hunter manga is finally making its return after being on hiatus for over four years.
The manga is scheduled to make its return on October 23, Viz Media is also going to publish the chapter simultaneously with a translation on the English edition of Shonen Jump on the same date. The new chapter will also be available for free online on Shonen Jump’s online platform, Manga Plus. Shueisha also released the cover art for the manga’s 37th volume, the first new volume to be released in four years.
Hunter x Hunter was put on hiatus since September 2018, and we’re glad to see the manga finally makes its return, and more importantly that Togashi is finally in a decent enough state to continue doing what he loves best.

Hunter x Hunter centers on a young boy named Gon Freecss, who finds out that his father, who seemingly abandoned him at a young age is actually a world-class Hunter. A hunter is a licensed professional that deals in tracking down fantastic objects, animals, treasures, and exploring uncharted territory. The series deals with the numerous other hunters that Gon meets along his journey, the complexities behind them, and the paranormal.
The series has been running since 1998, and now has 36 volumes. The series has been adapted multiple times, with a 62 episode anime by Nippon Animation, three separate original video animations that total to 30 episodes, and the most recent anime that totaled 148 episodes, and was done by Studio Madhouse.
The series has been critically acclaimed worldwide and beloved by many, with viewers praising its unique power dynamic clever setups, and incredibly layered characters. The latest anime has been cited as one of the best anime adaptations of the 2010s by multiple publications.
